Episode #36 – Snow Days

This week I have got some knitting, spinning, a little story about Snow Day fun, and some all around crafty goodness.

Updates

There is not a whole lot of new information on CampKIP. If you are at all interested in attending, go put yourself on the waiting list or check out the day pass option.

- Flashback Sock KAL! By popular vote Cookie A’s Monkey Socks are the socks for me! You don’t have to knit Monkey to participate … knit a sock from your past started before Feb. 28.  Full participation details on participation prizes are available Ravelry thread.

Spin a tale

- Not much of a story but i share my thoughts on Snow Days and our local weather.

Spinning my wheels

Sewing

- I stitched out about 8 Counting Sheep and took on a commisioned embroidary project to help pay for Camp KIP

Knitting

- I felt couragious and toosed the Handspun Socks into the washing machine.  They washed up nicely.  I am almost done with the Lion Neck Cardi and it should be finished by next episode. The Jitterbug that was in my stash has disappear and is gone forever so I will cast on the Monkey socks in Trekking Pro Nutura and likely knit it on a pait of 9-inch circs.

Spinning

- The Spinning Disaster has been undone.  I couldn’t help myself but spin the yarn back the other direction.  I am super happy with the results.

All Spun Up

- Teenage daughters have me all spun up.

Spin off

- January/February Donation incentive: I will be giving away some handspun yarn to one of our January and February donors.  I am going to spin up the roving that Dyeabolical Yarns donated to the podcast a few months ago and will keep you posted on my spinning progress.

Spinning my wheels

Knitting

- before the new year, The Christmas Conquest 2010 efforts continued.  The results included about 16 items!  Lots of hats, scarves, cowls, etc.  Everything was handed out on a whim at our New Year’s Eve Party.  I was thuroughly impressed with the way they were received and so happy with how the good SIL responded.

Spin a tale

Knitting

- The only thing I was able to do when I was sick was Knit and nap.  Fortunately that meant that I made some serious progress on Christmas Conquest 2010. I finished the first fornicating deer hat – and learn that i kind of suck at stranded knitting – and 2 basic helmet liners for the neighborhood guys! I also started and finished 3 scarves kinda like this one, two of which were made from Patons’ Voodoo.

Spinning

- Being sick didn’t make it easy to spin.  I got a little spinning done on the Wisteria Fiber Artist Paint Box.  The first sample I cracked into was some merino from Wolliebullie.  Wow … this stuff is dreamie.  It spins so nicely … like butter.  Totally love it.

Sewing

- Made a couple of rice bags for the family.  Similar to these but I kind of winged it

Put My Spin on It

- I took a look at two different types of Susan Bates fixed circular needles: 1) Susan Bates Silvalume 2) Susan Bates Quicksilver

All spun up

- The number 13 has got me down this week.  Am I really old enough to be the mother of a teenage girl.

- Sorry again for the delay in recording

-  Check out the details and photos of the Moss Fiber Artists Paint Box over on the donate page.  Thanks again to Spindies for their contribution to the podcast .  photos are up for you to look at. Plotting to do some chunky weight scarves on fat needles.  Still no progress on my Cardi.

Spinning

- Even more excited about the superwash merino Specially Dyed Autumn colors I got from from Sheep Shed Studios. The final skein was so much softer and wonderful that i expected.  Started the other half of the 8 oz. i had in my stash.  This time I am gonna Andean Ply it.
