In this episode, I’ve some knitting and spinning some travel updates, and I share the story about how I came to knitting.
Updates:
- Winter is still non-existent
- Ski week was great. Icy but great.
- I got picked up to teach a class at Estes Park Wool Market!!!
- Submitting a couple more proposal this week.
- I celebrated a birthday and went camping and had an accidentally birthday yarn crawl.
Spin a Tale
I tell people I learned to knit out of spite. I tell the story in this episode.
Spinning my Wheels
I closed out all of the the stuff I had in the works last year except the HipStrings. It’s still in the works but coming along.
Knitting
- I finished my January socks – Bartholomew’s Tantalizing Socks from Cat Bordhi’s book New Pathways for Sock Knitters, Book One. Hated them. Probably user error, but still. I have some feedback on the book, too.
- I am working through my February Socks: Simple Skyp Socks by Adrienne Ku. Loving them. Very refreshing after the Cat Bordhi’s sock. I am using some deep stash Socks that Rock in the color Blackbird.
- I made some cute hats using Handspun! The pattern I used is the Schneeflocke Hat by Liz Deane
- I am knitting on Plain Jane Glory, Take 2. I messed up the sizing. It’s delayed because I had to find a new tech editor. The pattern should be ready in a few weeks – fingers crossed.
Spinning
- I am still working through Chapter 2 from the Sarah Anderson’s The Spinner’s Book of Yarn Design and need to get some videos to get edited and posted.
- I spun on 2 different braids that were lovely – KnittyandColor Early Fall; Gale’s Art BFL.
- Actively doing some spindle spinning and loving it. I am spinning some Bam Huey on a Jenkins Turkish Spindle Egret.
- I am doing my first parallel draft in an effort to make this ugly batt into pretty yarn by combining it with some Alpaca and Ew hand dyed Falkland.
- I switched over to spinning on my Schacht Sidekick.
All spun up
I am all spun up about my efforts to get organized as an author and knitwear designer. I am doing the thing.
