In this spin a tale, I am all spun up about snow days and digging myself out!  The craft room is coming along.

Knitting

– Massive improvements on finished projects in 2015 when compared to 2014.

– Finished the boy’s Time Traveler socks and cast on a pair of Easy Pattern for Striped Socks for myself.

– I have two projects sitting around that are finished but I have been awful about blocking: a Petal Shawl and a Seifert Cowl by Nora Gaughan

Spinning

– Getting some time in on the dreaded fleece.  Making slow progress in 15 minutes a day.

Sewing

– Did a little machine embroidery and have future plans for more.

Episode #89 – Catching Up

This episode is all about catching up.

Updates

– Just as festival season was ramping up, I ended up with a complex medical situation that we have resolved!

– Festival Update: Ran off to the Shenandoah Valley Fiber Festival in my recovery.  It was great for my spirit and a lot of fun.

Knitting

– Finished the shorty socks for Byrd and the Petal Wrap for my Tanya’s Birthday.

– Cast on a pair Time Traveler sock for the boy and a Fir Tree Cowl for myself… All the while binge watching Grey’s Anatomy.

Spinning

– Finally finished spinning my first Ply-on-the-fly project and got a bit distracted by trying to learn to spin on my new supported spindle I got from Spanish Peacock.

Sewing

– Getting ready to take my machine in for a tune up.  I need to get my sewing table in order soon!!!  I have a secret project I need to work on.

Episode #88 – New Obsession

In the episode, I’ve got some knitting, some spinning, a sewing update, a little tail for you about how I thought I might be the worst parent ever and I get all spun up about some new obsessions.

– Festival Update:  We are getting everything set for Black Sheep Gathering in Eugene Oregon.  I also volunteered to make arrangements for Jenkins Woodworking Meet-up.

– I share some life updates.  The consulting gig is going pretty well and helping to fund my Oregon trip.

– Finished prepping the fiber for the Jenkins Group Summer Spinning event.  Started spinning and it’s going slowly.

– I have been thinking about it but haven’t actually gotten any done.

– Ever since Maryland Sheep & Wool, I have been day dreaming and obsessing over vintage Louet Travel wheels, like the S40 Hatbox and s45

Episode #87 – Lucky

In the episode, I’ve got some knitting, some spinning, a little tale for you about some strange luck of mine and I get all spun up about a class I have ever taken.

– Festival Update: We conquered Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival and I share a brief update; I have a handful of pictures from the event on my blog.  Our next goal is to get everything set for Black Sheep Gathering in Eugene Oregon.

– I share some life updates.  The kids of getting along pretty well and we survived prom.  Hear about the opportunity that crossed my path to take on some freelance/consulting work.

– I finished two projects: The Villenueve Tank for MDSW.  It’s a pattern from Espace Tricot; I also started some shorty socks for itty-bitty.

– pretty proud that I also cast on two new project: Started a pair of shorty socks for Byrd; Started the Petal Wrap for my Tanya’s Birthday.

Spinning

– I finished all the plying for my Swap Challenge 2015 project.  I am pretty happy with the final yarn.

– Started prepping the fiber for the Jenkins Group Summer Spinning event.

– Feel super lucky to have had the chance to take a couple workshops with Jacey Boggs Faulkner of PLY Magazine.  Took a workshop on turning your fiber craft into a business and one on plying & Ply Structure.  She is a fantastic teacher and I hope I get the chance to take a class with her again in the future.

Episode #86 – It Clicked

In the episode, I’ve got some knitting, some spinning, a little story about with it all lines up and things start to click and you can see the fruits of your labor paying off.

– Festival Update: I am all set to attend Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival at the Howard Country Fairgrounds; and, I booked my travel and hotel for Black Sheep Gathering in Eugene Oregon.

– Biggest project: Still not done.  I took on a project to build myself a custom pegboard to organize my thread stash.  Maybe next time.

– I rediscovered a local yarn store: Cloverhill Yarns, Catonsville, MD.

– I have a little story about seeing the fruits of my labor as a parent and watching reality click for my oldest, Byrd.

The boy’s Staghorn Sweater actually fits.  I knew it would but he doubted me. I hated knitting them but am finished the plain-jane socks.  Used a new short-row technique to increase the depth of the gusset.

I cast on two projects: The Villenueve Tank for MDSW.  It’s a pattern from Espace Tricot; I also started some shorty socks for itty-bitty.

– I finished spinning for Swap Challenge 2015 project hosted by the Jenkins Lovers group on Ravelry. All I have left is a tiny bit of plying.

– I marathon watched two seasons of the BBC America Original show Orphan Black.  LOVE IT!

I completely finished  the boy’s Staghorn Sweater.  I hate them but am so close to finishing the plain-jane socks.  I put my brother’s rippled blanket on the back burner for some new items in the queue.

You will not believe what the future holds for that stupid crochet blanket!

– I am 3 quarters of the way done with the Swap Challenge 2015 project hosted by the Jenkins Lovers group on Ravelry.  Should be done spinning and plying this weekend.  This project features some pretty great fiber: 2 oz. of Inglenook Fibers and 2 from Dragonfly Fibers.

– I spent a lot of time spinning samples that came with my new spindles.  But that is an update for another episode.  I am still spinning on the kuchulu project.  That is taking forever but I like it.  I am trying my hand at a fiber swap hosted by the Jenkins Lovers group on Revelry.  So far my faith in swaps is renewed.
