Episode #103 – My Winter Heart

  • I have started work.  I like my job but it definitely going to be a harder transition than expected.
  • Happy Thanksgiving!  The holiday came and went and we have had lots of visitors over the past couple of weeks.

  • I got my Sequoia Wheel back and wish I could start the project that’s on it … long story.

Episode #101 – The Secret is Out

Introduction

In this episode, I have some knitting, some spinning, some random craft related projects, I am all spun up that the secret is out about the super duper top secret project and I announce the winner of the 100th episode drawing I hosted.

A lot has happened since the last episode.  I talk about the weather.  I got a job offer.  I have a huge checklist of tasks to get done before I start said job.

  • I didn’t start anything or finish anything but, I have been swatching like crazy for a new pattern design.  I am totally in love with garter stitch and it shows.
  • I have taken some inspiration from the Hitchhiker Shawl by Martina Behm and the Scrappy Bias Shawl from Emily Clawson.
  • I am also totally in love with Misty Mountain Farms Prime Alpaca DK.  YUM!!!

Spinning

  • I have managed to spin for 15 minutes each day for about the last week and a half.  Almost done with that silly bump.

Other Crafty Goodness

  • I have been taking time to work on some projects made of reclaimed wood and materials.  I tell you all about the Aspen wood slices and the fleece skirting/drying table I made from a reclaimed closet door.

Episode #99 – Two Weeks

Sewing

  • I finished all my chore sewing which helped me get my machine back in order for regular projects.
  • I have been working on 5 project bags.  Got them all cut, pinned and half are all sewn.

  • I am still spinning the first of many Bullseye Bump I own from Loop Fiber Studios.  I am spinning this on my Louet Hatbox Reproduction wheel.
  • I have also been working on some Louet fiber on a Jenkins Spindle.

Knitting

  • I knit the bottom band on the body of Eco Vest and then decided I am not in the for cables.  So that has been shelved for the time being.
  • I have cast on and have been working the On The Beach Sweater from Isabel Kraemer.  I am making good progress and am about halfway through the body.
  • I turned the heal on the two pair of socks I have on the needles: the Hermione’s Everyday socks for me and the pair of Jeck socks for the boy.
  • I am knitting samples for my super duper top secret project.  I have plans for 4 samples and am working on the second.

  • I got distracted by the super duper top secret project but I am still working on other things.
  • I have four finished legs on the socks I have been working on: a pair of Hermione’s Everyday socks for me and yet another pair of Jeck socks for the boy.
  • I didn’t get any farther than casting on the Eco Vest.
  • Still plan to but haven’t cast on the sweater pattern from Isabel Kraemer called on the beach.

Spinning

  • I did finish spinning, plying and setting the Alpaca Bumps I had been working on.
  • I started spinning the first of many Bullseye Bump I own from Loop Fiber Studios.  I am spinning this on my Louet Hatbox Reproduction wheel.

  • I got my sewing table all set up and am ready to start sewing.  I have a stack of chore sewing that I plan to get accomplished before the next episode.
  • I am also converting an original drawing by one of my daughters into an embroidery design.  Getting that set up was quiet the adventure.

  • The search for the boy’s diploma gave me a great excuse to unpack all the boxes in the craft room.  I have managed to get all my books put on the shelves.  I inventoried my fiber stash and got it put away.  I am chugging away on getting all my yarn stash inventoried.
